The Kindness Closet Launches Student Leadership Council for Local High School Students

The Kindness Closet is excited to launch a new opportunity for local high school students who want to make a difference in their community: The Kindness Closet Student Leadership Council.
Created for students who are ready to get more involved in service, leadership, and advocacy, the Student Leadership Council will give young people an opportunity to work directly with The Kindness Closet while helping address hygiene insecurity throughout our community.
Developing the Next Generation of Community Leaders
The Kindness Closet is working alongside students Eve Martin and Claire Mautner to help launch the new Council and create meaningful opportunities for high school students to get involved.
Student Leadership Council members will have opportunities to:
Develop leadership and teamwork skills
Organize community service projects
Lead hygiene product drives
Support fundraising efforts and special events
Raise awareness about hygiene insecurity
Represent The Kindness Closet in the community
Bring their own ideas, creativity, and passion to our mission
Most importantly, we want students to have a voice.
The Council isn't simply about completing volunteer hours. It's an opportunity for students to see a community need, help create solutions, and learn how their ideas and actions can make a meaningful difference for others.
Why Hygiene Insecurity Matters
Basic hygiene products like soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, period products, and other everyday essentials are necessities — but they aren't always accessible to the individuals and families who need them.
The Kindness Closet works alongside schools, clinics, shelters, and community organizations to help get these products into the hands of our neighbors.
Through the Student Leadership Council, high school students can become part of that work while helping their peers and communities better understand an often-overlooked need.
Who Should Apply to the Student Leadership Council?
We're looking for high school students who care about their community and want to get involved.
You don't have to arrive with leadership experience or a long list of volunteer accomplishments. We're looking for students who are willing to participate, contribute ideas, work with others, and help move our mission forward.
Applications are due August 31, 2026.
After the application deadline, Eve will follow up with applicants with information about next steps and the Council's first meeting.
Meet the Council at Kind in the Vines
We'll officially introduce our inaugural Student Leadership Council at Kind in the Vines on September 30 at Davesté Vineyards, The Kindness Closet's annual fundraiser.
Council members will also have their first opportunity to represent The Kindness Closet by helping with our Lemonade Stand during the event — a fitting place to begin, as the Lemonade Stand honors the moment that helped spark The Kindness Closet movement.
It's a chance for our newest student leaders to experience firsthand what can happen when one idea, one act of kindness, and one person willing to help turns into something much bigger.
