Supporting Girls with Dignity
Access. Confidence. Opportunity.
At The Kindness Closet, we believe that every girl deserves to feel clean, confident, and capable — no matter her background or family’s income. Yet for thousands of young girls in North Carolina, access to basic hygiene and period products is not guaranteed.
From deodorant and body wash to pads and toothpaste, these everyday essentials can become unaffordable luxuries for families facing hardship. Without them, girls miss school, struggle socially, and face avoidable barriers to health, education, and self-worth.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Hygiene poverty directly impacts school attendance, self-esteem, and long-term outcomes
HOW IT WORKS
Schools & organizations identify needs → Partners distribute products →Volunteers power programs → Individuals receive support with dignity...

The Red Cart Project
Period Products with Purpose
Our Red Cart Project directly addresses period poverty in local schools by providing free, discreet, and fully stocked carts with pads and tampons — placed in bathrooms where girls can access them without shame or asking.
These bright red carts:
-
Are no-questions-asked
-
Are refilled regularly through donations and sponsors
-
Help eliminate absenteeism caused by lack of period products
-
Are supported by school staff and counselors as a safe resource
They’re more than a cart. They’re a signal to every student: You matter. You are not alone.
